Marine Farms Belize
Marine Farms Belize brings decades of fish farming experience from its Norwegian parent together with the expertise of key staff originally from Aquaculture Center of the Florida Keys. ACFK was instrumental in developing commercially viable hatchery techniques for the larval rearing of cobia.
Since operations commenced in 2006, MFB has developed a cage farm off Robinson Point, 8 nautical miles south east of Belize City. The cage farm comprises an ongrowing area, with 24 hour security, and a nursery site near-by. The company’s office and marina are situated on the Western Highway, a location which will also house an ice plant and processing unit in future.
Initially, seed stock was supplied from the Florida hatchery but in the future all fingerlings will be produced locally in Belize. MFB is currently constructing a state-of-the-art marine fish hatchery in Dangriga. Cobia is indigenous to Belize and all parent fish for the new hatchery are from local waters. Visit Website
